Steve Reinhard drove his Wilson Manifolds equipped 2000 Camaro Z28 to victory at the 2007 Hot Rod Magazine Pump Gas Drags at Memphis Motorsports Park, Memphis Tennessee. The Hot Rod Pump Drags is an invitational, meaning that the Hot Rod staff handpicks the cars that participate. This year there were over 300 entries of which 75 were chosen. Each competitor must complete a 30 mile drive with mandatory checkpoints from the start point at Comp Cams to Memphis Motorsports Park. All cars are checked for license, registration and insurance and that all the street equipment worked. Once they arrive each car is allowed one pass to qualify for the 32-car field. Qualified racers run heads up with a Pro Tree.
Steve Reinhard?s Camaro is prepared by Performance Specialties, Glen Burnie, Maryland. The company owned by Jeff Lowry, qualified two Wilson Manifolds equipped cars, Steve?s Camaro and the Ashley Gable?s 2000 Firebird Trans-Am WS6. Ashley qualified at with a 9.75 @ 136.94 and also won the Hot Rod Editors Pick for the Most Legit 9-Second Street Car. A Wilson Manifolds Billet Bank intake manifold contributes to the excellent overall performance both on and off the strip. Ashley drives the Trans-Am to college and on a daily basis.


The Camaro is equipped with a 415 CI motor is an 11.2:1 compression iron block. The shortblock was built by Erik Koenig, with Performance Specialties completing the engine. They added one of their cams, an Edelbrock Victor Jr equipped with a Wilson Manifolds 4500 High Flow Throttle Body. Providing the extra kick needed for their drive to the championship, Lowry selected the Nitrous Pro-Flow #309720 2- Stage Plate System, 4500 to 4150 Adapter with Burst Panels. A Coan Powerglide, drag radials and 3:55 Dana 60 rearend get the power to the ground.
After four grueling rounds, Steve put the Camaro in victory lane, in the process beating some very potent 600 cubic inch competitors. His best pass was 9:10 @149.18 mph.
